This study aims to determine the effect of the traditional sack race game on improving gross motor skills in children aged 5–6 years in the neighborhood around the researcher’s home. The research was motivated by the importance of providing appropriate physical stimulation to support the development of children’s gross motor abilities. The traditional sack race game was chosen because it helps strengthen muscles, improve balance, and enhance body coordination through enjoyable and educational activities. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model. The population consisted of children aged 5–6 years living around the researcher’s home, with a total of four participants, including two in the experimental group and two in the control group. Data were collected through observation, gross motor skill tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests with the help of the SPSS application. The results showed that the traditional sack race game had a positive effect on improving children’s gross motor skills. Therefore, the traditional sack race can serve as an effective play-based learning
