This study explores how the lifestyle of young people in Bandar Lampung influences fuel consumption, particularly through the use of private vehicles in daily social activities. Quantitative results show that 65% of respondents use motorcycles more than five times a week for social activities, which is closely related to increased fuel consumption. Qualitative findings reinforce these results by highlighting that private vehicles serve not only as a means of transportation but also as a symbol of status, comfort, and a response to social pressure. This study employs a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative data to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the lifestyle dimensions and symbolic meanings of vehicles. However, this study has several limitations, such as only involving the 18–35 age group, indirect estimation of fuel consumption, and the exclusion of external factors such as infrastructure conditions and fuel prices. Based on these findings, it is recommended to develop educational campaigns tailored to the characteristics of young people to enhance awareness of fuel efficiency, as well as to accelerate the development of modern and environmentally friendly public transportation systems. Future research is encouraged to expand the study area and incorporate psychosocial, economic, and urban planning aspects into further analysis.
