PERAN SEKOLAH DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KEPRIBADIAN ANAK DI TENGAH KRISIS NILAI MORAL DI ERA DIGITAL

Abstract

The digital era has brought significant impacts on the moral and personality development of children. The rapid advancement of information technology, when not accompanied by strong ethical values, has led to a moral crisis characterized by declining empathy, discipline, and respect for teachers. This study aims to analyze the role of schools in shaping children’s personalities amid the moral crisis in the digital age. The research employs a library research method by reviewing relevant national and international scholarly sources related to character education and the sociology of education. The findings indicate that schools play a strategic role as secondary socialization agents through the implementation of character-based curricula, teacher role modeling, and the habituation of moral values within the school environment. Several schools, such as public senior high schools in Lumajang and SMAIT Wanareja, have implemented ethical digital literacy programs and character-building activities that effectively foster students’ empathy and social responsibility. Furthermore, collaboration among schools, families, and communities is essential to strengthen the moral internalization process. Therefore, amid the challenges of the digital era, schools need to reinforce character education and ethical digital literacy to develop students who possess integrity, holistic personalities, and the moral capacity to adapt in both real and digital environments.
